Welcome to PavoCarto, my newly launched website!
While the champagne has been long finished on New Year’s Eve, I’m excited to unveil the first version of this platform and share it with you.
Goals
PavoCarto is built with a clear mission: to bridge the gap between science and practice in sustainable land management. This platform serves three interconnected goals:
• Showcase professional expertise: highlight the international services I offer in land use planning, climate analysis, soil evaluation, and geospatial solutions, demonstrating the practical applications of these disciplines.
• Explain the science behind the work: break down complex geoscience concepts into clear and engaging explanations, fostering understanding and appreciation of the science that underpins sustainable development.
• Promote open access to knowledge: provide free access to my publications, maps, and resources, ensuring that valuable information is available to those who seek it.
Structure of the website
• About PavoCarto: An overview of the platform’s vision and purpose.
• Themes: 1) Land use planning, 2) Climate, 3) Land resources, 4) Soils, 5) Land suitability, 6) GIS tools.
• Maps: A curated collection of maps showcasing spatial analyses from around the world.
• Publications: Access a wide range of authored and co-authored works, from journal articles to technical guides and software.
• Services Offered: Explore specialized expertise in land use planning, climate analysis, soil evaluation, and more.
Current status
Currently Theme 1: Land Use Planning and Theme 2: Climate are functioning. Themes 3-6 are under construction and will be available in the next few months. The Maps section is currently being populated, around 500 are available now.
Why launch now?
Launching PavoCarto now is like moving into a house where the living room, kitchen, and a few bedrooms are ready, while the rest is still being renovated. The essentials are in place, and it’s ready for use, but there’s much more to come.
By sharing the website early, I hope to provide value right away and gather your feedback as I continue building Themes 3–6 and expanding the Maps section.
What’s Next?
Expect updates at least once a month as the site grows into a comprehensive resource. Each addition will be designed to enhance your experience and provide more in-depth content.
Your Feedback Matters
I warmly invite you to share your thoughts or ask questions. Comments are open, and I’d love to hear from you—as long as we keep the conversation polite and constructive.
Thank you for visiting PavoCarto. I look forward to growing this space with your support and input!
